Business Issues

The oldest health-care facility in Birmingham, Alabama, St. Vincent’s has transformed itself in many ways to face the challenges of continually serving its community with the highest quality care. To keep pace, St. Vincent’s must ensure prompt delivery of vital information to hospital decision makers. Yet, developing the necessary reports and ensuring they reached the right staff members was a time-consuming process. St. Vincent’s wanted to not only expedite this process, but also give access to more employees involved in decision making.

Ranzal Role

Ranzal developed a multi-point solution comprised of several modules. The first module gives personnel “speed of thought” access to critical information to manage hospital profitability. It provides hospital staff with instant access to financial reporting like the P&L and Balance Sheet via a web-based application. The second module delivers essential day-to-day information to operational users to analyze activity against plan and flex budgets by Cost Center, DRG, Physician, Insurance Coverage, and Patient Type.

A third module provides key performance information to top decision makers, which helps drive hospital operations. The application monitors strategic initiatives across the enterprise in areas of Clinical Excellence, Innovation, Quality Care, Work Life, and Financial Performance. It also gives St. Vincent’s the ability to identify how operations rate against peer facilities in the industry.
