Company Background

Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison), a regulated utility, provides electric service in New York City (except for a small area of Queens), and most of Westchester County, and natural gas service in Manhattan, the Bronx, and parts of Queens and Westchester. Con Edison also owns and operates the world’s largest district steam system, providing steam service in most of Manhattan. Con Edison is a subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies.

Project Overview

• Designed custom planning and forecasting application for two different analytical groups
• Created automated system based on complex data transformation methods to build and modify Hyperion Essbase databases overnight
• Developed Excel/VBA input templates for Hyperion Essbase databases
• Developed custom VB application using sophisticated Hyperion Essbase calc scripts for data consolidation
• Reporting and analysis executed through Excel/VBA-based reports
• Enabled a highly flexible "what-if" scenario process for end users
• Developed report scripts to run post-analysis forecast information through a backward migration process
